AI Safety – Beyond doomerism and techno-optimism

AI Safety – Beyond doomerism and techno-optimism

ABOUT THIS EVENT

How safe is Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Don’t let the answer catch off guard!
Every day AI advances and for most people that means their AI assistant learned a few new tricks. But what happens if AI outruns our ability to govern it?

Dr Maria Adragna takes a sober look at AI, moving beyond both doomerism and techno-optimism. With a background as litigation lawyer, she transitioned into the financial sector, where she developed a strong interest in emerging technologies, particularly blockchain and artificial intelligence. Her work focuses on the intersection of technology, finance, and public governance, with particular attention to the implications of AI for fundamental rights, accountability, and regulatory frameworks. Most recently, she spoke at the ICOBAI 2026 conference, where she presented her latest research on frontier AI risks and loss-of-control scenarios, exploring their potential impact on governance, safety, and society.

Join us to be aware about the current debate on AI risks and recent incidents to understand the role of regulations and civil society to protect collective rights.
